The best music videos of 2018
Hello guys! As 2018 is becoming quite blurry, I decided to recall all of the best music videos of it. It was hard to choose only some of them but eventually, I made it. If you want to listen to the songs while reading just gently press the 'play' button underneath every description. So here we go!
Taylor Swift - Delicate
I feel like this one is my absolute favourite of 2018. Taylor did it again! She changed the way people perceive the public figures and their privacy. Emotional, moving, artistic, and simple music video for Delicate is all about beauty. I adore Tay dancing in the rain and the symbols all over the frames.
Selena Gomez - Back To You
Back To You music video is inspired by 'Pierrot le Fou', a 1965 movie directed by Jean-Luc Godard. In the short movie, Selena starts her relationship by asking her beloved one about stealing a car. What a beautiful love story... but there is something more! The plot is constructed in such a way that the audience has no idea whether it is about current times or some memories in Selena's mind. I especially love the emotions intrusions by Miss Gomez.
One of the best music videos of 2018 is also Natalia's one for Łuny. This movie was directed by Łukasz Zabłocki in Spain. Colourful and just aesthetic video shows not only that Miss Nykiel has it all but also that Polish art is thriving and better than ever. Go ahead and give it some thumbs up!
Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry
I guess this girl doesn't need an introduction. The beautiful, symbolic, and unrealistic music video is a tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack. Ari is moving on getting stronger and stronger. She hints the tracklist of Sweetener here and makes a throwback to her first mv - Put Your Hearts Up.
The Carters - APE$HIT
And lived happily ever after... one can say. Well, after some ups and downs in the Carter family, they seem to get back on the track with APE$HIT and the album. Having hired the Louvre Museum to record this music video, Beyoncé and Jay-Z added fuel to the fire. This is art.
Charli XCX & Troye Sivan - 1999
Isn't it good to come back to the good old days? Especially, when this journey is taken over Charli XCX and Troye Sivan. In 1999 (which happens to be my year) we can see some iconic, to those times, visualisations alongside the films which came out then. People from late 00s won't get it #sorrynotsorry ;)
Iggy Azalea ft. Quavo - Saviour
I love Iggy and her team for creating a music video with some religious symbols which perfectly matches the lyrics. This symbolical piece of art mixes the conventional images of the church like crosses or halos with some modern approach by adding neon lights. As Iggy said - she tried to find a saviour in religion but eventually, she found it inside herself. And this video is all about it.
Kendrick Lamar & SZA - All The Stars
All The Stars is the main single from Black Panther movie. In the music video for this tune, one can not only admire the beauty of art directed by Dave Meyers but also be enchanted by the angelic voices of SZA and Kendrick Lamar. The music video shows Africa as the centre of the universe and praises black people's culture.
