Margaret - Monkey Bu$iness (2017) | Recenzja / Review
Margaret (właściwie Małgorzata Jamroży), dobrze znana polskim czytelnikom, ale krótko przedstawię Wam jej historię. Zaczęła karierę muzyczną w 2013 z wielkim hitem Thank You Very Much, który podbił brytyjski, skandynawski, niemiecki i polski rynek muzyczny. W 2016 zasmakowała zmagań do reprezentowania Polski w Konkursie Piosenki Eurowizyjnej z kolejnym przebojem, Cool Me Down. Jej debiut Add The Blond pokrył się złotem w Polsce, podobnie jak wszystkie single z tego albumu. Teraz nadszedł czas jej drugiego studyjnego nagrania pod tytułem Monkey Bu$iness. Margaret współpracowała tutaj z producentami ze światowym uznaniem, którzy tworzyli hity, między innymi dla: dla The Chainsmokers, Zary Larsson, czy Tove Lo. Materiał powala na kalana i mam nadzieję, że przyjmie się w Polsce, a później na świecie.
Polish singer-songwriter and fashion blogger Małgosia Jamroży, known professionally as Margaret. Her music story in a nutshell - she began her career in 2013 with Thank You Very Much which debuted high on British, German, Scandinavian and Polish charts. In 2016 she decided to take part in the Polish preselection for Eurovision Song Contest with her smash hit Cool Me Down. She ended up at the second place. Her debut album Add The Blond is Golden in Poland, like all of the singles from this pop masterpiece. Now's the time for her sophomore longplay which is called Monkey Bu$iness. Margaret cooperated here with worldwide-known producers, who made hits for The Chainsmokers, Zara Larsson or Tove Lo. New project of Margaret swept me of my feet and I hope for a massive success, for now in Poland and then internationally.

Monkey Bu$iness
Tytułowy numer i rozpoczęcie albumu. Pierwsze dźwięki w całości zaspokajają głód wszystkim miłośnikom muzyki popularnej. Tym utworem nie powstydziłby się chyba nikt. W niektórych momentach Margaret brzmi jak Rihanna. Słychać tutaj światowy i jakże dobry poziom. Nikogo raczej nie zdziwi, jak za kilka miesięcy usłyszymy tę piosenkę w zagranicznym radiu na wakacjach. Mam nadzieję na przyszły singiel! Gratulacje!

In some places Margaret sounds like Rihanna. You can hear a global success here. Nobody's gonna be surprised when in a few months we would listen to it on holidays in the foreign radio. Blue Vibes / What You Do
Blue Vibes było pierwszym przedsmakiem wydanego niedawno albumu. Piosenka promowała animację: "Smerfy: Poszukiwacze Zaginionej Wioski". Bardzo dobry, skoczny, house'owy numer ze spokojnym głosem Margaret. Osobiście na filmie nie byłem, ale ze źródła wiem, że dobrze słucha się również w kinie. Trzecią pozycję na trakliście zajmuje What You Do, które stało się pierwszym singlem z Monkey Bu$iness. Świetny wybór. Słyszy się dużo komentarzy, że podobne do Don't Let Me Down zespołu The Chainsmokers oraz Dayi, ale to tylko i wyłącznie dlatego, iż budowali go ci sami producenci. Według mnie piosenka zasługuje na miano hitu lata (albo i nawet roku). Mogłoby się wydawać, że po Cool Me Down, które tak wysoko postawiło poprzeczkę, nie ma szans dla Margaret na kolejny, tak świetny numer, a jednak!

Personally, I haven't seen the film yet, but I've heard that it's great to hear the song from cinema's speakers. The third song on the tracklist is What You Do, which is the very first single of Monkey Bu$iness. Great choice! There are a lot of comments, which say that it's very similar to Don't Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers and Daya, but it's just because Margaret worked with the same producers which made both songs. To my mind, this piece of art deserves to be one of the summer hits of 2017 (moreover it could be one of this year's the best). It could be seemed that after the success of Cool Me Down, Margaret would never have had as a good song. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. She made it once again with What You Do!

Color Of You / Super Human
Przechodzimy do imprezowej części płyty. Color Of You, czy według mnie Side To Side 2.0 - połączenie reggae i popu. Znowu można skojarzyć głos Margaret z głosem Rihanny. Dobry numer, szczególnie to zwolnienie w 2:11. Jeżeli chodzi o Super Human to niestety do mnie nie przemawia. Mam wrażenie, że jest robiony na wypełnienie całości, a to nie oto tutaj chodzi. Dosyć podobny do niektórych propozycji z So Good Zary Larsson.

Jedna z pierwszych zarejestrowanych piosenek, nagranych na ten album. Kolejna perełka w dorobku Margaret. Bardzo się cieszę, że wokalistka postanowiła wydać album przed wakacjami, bo właśnie na ten czas są potrzebne takie chwytliwe, taneczne utwory. I can't get over this song! Future My Problem to kolejna dobra pozycja na Monkey Bu$iness. Zbliżona do ostatniego wydania formacji One Republic. Glorious, które w pewnym momencie może zahaczyć o gospel (w 2:19). Fajny kawałek, w sam raz na chillout.
One of the first registered tracks for this album. Another daisy in Margaret's discography. I'm content that the singer decided to launch her sophomore album before the holidays, because that's the time when we need such catchy bops. I can't get over this song! Future My Problem is the next good position on Monkey Bu$iness. Akin to the latest One Republic's project. Glorious, which sometimes has this gospel sounds (especially in 2:19). Great tune for chillout.
Cuz It's You / Funky Song
Jedyna ballada w języku angielskim na albumie, która w połowie przemienia się w rytmiczny hit (zupelnie jak nowe wydawnictwo Camili Cabello). Dobra piosenka, sama się obroni i tak właśnie jest tutaj. Niezła robota Margaret! I jesteśmy na mecie standardowej wersji z Funky Song w stylu muzyki country. Jest gitarka, jest chórek, jest ogień i mamy gotowy hit dla Małgosi. "Do wszystkich tutaj zgromadzonych. Proszę, nie zapomnijcie, jak piękni jesteście. Stójcie prosto. Sięgajcie daleko. Przyjmujcie błędy. Uśmiechajcie się dumnie i głośno się śmiejcie. Jesteście wspaniali." - wiadomość Margaret do wszystkich słuchaczy na koniec płyty.

I mean, you're sensasional" - Margaret's message for the audience.

Nie Chce (eng. I Don't Wanna) / Byle Jak (eng. Down and Dirty)
Na deluxe wersji znajdziemy też dwie piosenki po polsku. Nie Chce jest bardzo spójną, spokojną balladą o beznadziejnej miłości. Utwór zaczyna i kończy rozmowa telefoniczna z "ukochanym". Natomiast Byle Jak, który Margaret niejednokrotnie przedstawiała na żywo podczas swoich koncertów jest wolnym utworem przy akompaniamencie skrzypiec i pianina. Liryczny głos Margaret w ojczystym języku brzmi świetnie.

Na zakończenie tej recenzji chciałbym jeszcze raz bardzo pogratulować Margaret za tak niesamowite brzmienie na jej nowej płycie. Cała zawartość albumu powala, a sukces jest tuż za rogiem. Będę promował płytę jak tylko się da, szczególnie poza granicami naszego kraju. Monkey Bu$iness zasługuje na miano polskiej płyty roku 2017 i liczę, że tak się stanie. Jednak mam pewien żal do samej zainteresowanej, Mianowicie, w tym materiale jest tak mało Margaret. Może to z uwagi na tytuł wydawnictwa, albo na komercyjny sukces albumu. Do tego jednak już nie dojdziemy, ale wyraźnie słychać wiele zapożyczeń z branży koleżanek po fachu. Jednakże, póki wszystko spójnie, fajnie się słucha, jestem w stanie przymknąć na to oko i już wyczekiwać kolejnych projektów młodej Polki.
In conclusion of this review, I'd like to congratulate Margaret one more time for setting up such a good album and for her absolutely stunning voice here. The whole album is a pop masterpiece and the great success is just behind the corner. I'm going to promote it, especially outside the Poland. Monkey Bu$iness deserves to be the Polish Album Of The Year and I really hope for it. However, I have one regret to the singer. To wit, there are practicaly no Margaret here. Maybe that's because of the title or the upcoming commercial smash. The only thing she did was to record some songs, which we all have heard somewhere. There's little authenticity. But, as long as the whole record sounds nice (as it does), I think I'm able to turn a blind eye to it and looking forward to hearing some new projects of this young, talented Polish singer.
