13 Powodów chwilę po premierze stał się najpopularniejszym obrazem Netflixa w historii. Producentem serialu jest Selena Gomez. Piosenkarka nagrała na oficjalny soundtrack aż dwa utwory, które doskonale pasują do klimatu i problematyki. Na potrzeby serialu nagrano dwa soundtracki: jeden, instrumentalny, całkowicie skomponowany przez grupę Eskmo, i drugi - ścieżka dźwiękowa z muzyką autorską. Zostańmy przy tym drugim. Dzisiejsza recenzja będzie trochę inna niż wszystkie, ponieważ umieszczę tutaj też moje odczucia do całego serialu. Oczywiście, mogą pojawić się małe spoilery, więc uważajcie.
13 Reasons Why just after its premiere began the most popular Netflix's property. Selena Gomez is the producer. She also recorded two songs for the original soundtrack, which perfectly match to the atmosphere and issues of the series. There are two soundtracks for the sake of serial. One of them is fully composed by the music group - Eskmo. Another one contains authorial music by various artists. Let's stick to the latter. Today's review is different than the others because I put my feelings about the series there. Obviously, there could be some spoilers, so be aware.
Na początek - krótkie przypomnienie fabuły i problematyki serialu. Hannah Baker, główna bohaterka popełnia samobójstwo, tłumacząc je trzynastoma powodami, które nagrywa na taśmach, popularnych w latach 90. Każda osoba, która "potajemnie" dostaje "dowody zbrodni" jest zaplątana i przyczyniła się do śmierci dziewczyny. Odbiorcy "przeżywają" taśmy razem z Clayem Jensenem, przyjacielem Hannah, który słucha ich bardzo uważnie, powoli, jak sam to powiedział: "wymierzając własną sprawiedliwość". Geneza powstania serialu jest dosyć obszerna, bo trwała aż siedem lat, zaczynając od 2010 roku, kiedy Selena Gomez dostała propozycję zagrania głównej bohaterki. Do tego jednak nie doszło i dwa lata temu, panna Gomez, dalej mając prawa do nakręcenia obrazka, wraz ze swoją mamą i jej fundacją Kicked To The Curb podpisały kontrakt z Netflixem na powstanie tego przełomowego serialu.

Hannah Baker, the protagonist commited suicide, but before she did that, she had recorded thirteen reasons on the tapes, which was popular in the mid 90's. Every person, which "sneakingly" gets the tapes had contributed to her death. The recipients is getting to know the history with Clay Jensen, who played it really slow, carefully, as he said: "making his own justice". The genesis of the series is pretty comprehensive, because it had been lasting for seven years. It started in 2010 when young Gomez got the offer to play the role of Hannah Baker. But it never happened and then, two years ago Selena with her mum and her foundation Kicked To The Curb signed the contarct with Netflix to start filmimg 13 Reasons Why.
Only You / Kill Em With Kindness (Acoustic)
Jak już wcześniej wspomniałem - Selena nagrała na ścieżkę dźwiękową dwa utwory. Only You, który jest coverem starej piosenki grupy Yazoo, z 1982 roku. Utwór już na pewno będzie zawsze wszystkim oglądającym kojarzył się z 13 Powodami. Zaraz po serialowej śmierci Hannah, Only You leci w tle, jak Clay idzie korytarzem, słuchając trzynastej taśmy. Niesamowicie wzruszająca i niosąca wielkie przesłanie propozycja. Akustyczna wersja Kill Em With Kindness, którą Selena zapowiedziała w swoje 24. urodziny. Mimo, że tekst jest taki sam jak w popowym hicie, muzyka zmienia kompletnie całą atmosferę piosenki. Tutaj jest mrocznie, depresyjnie, płaczliwie. Selena nagrała naprawdę znakomite utwory, które doskonale oddają uczucia z jakimi zmagali się bohaterowie.
As I previously said - Selena recorded two songs for the soundtrack. First is Only You, a cover of an old song by Yazoo. from 1982. This song will forever stick to the tv series and it will be an association to all of the viewers between Hannah's life and death. It is playing just after the toughest scene of the whole season, when Clay goes throughout the school's corridor, listening to the thirteenth tape. A really touching and meaningful song. The acoustic version of Kill Em With Kindness, which Selena preannounced on her 24th birthday. Although the lyrics are the same as they are in the pop hit by her, music is changing everything. This one's dark, depressing and tearful. Selena recorded these two great songs, which perfectly show the emotions and feeelings characters have to struggle with.
Bored / High / The Killing Moon (Echo & The Bunneymen Cover) / The Walls Came Down
Kolejne cztery propozycje nagrane specjalnie na potrzeby serialu. Bored w wykonaniu Billie Eilish, młodej amerykańskiej wokalistki. Ten utwór jest następnym świetnym utworem wprowadzającym do świata Hannah. Grupa Sir Sly nagrała piosenkę High, która gra w momencie kiedy Clay wchodzi na imprezę. I The Killing Moon, czyli piosenka, przy której Hannah wchodzi do posiadłości Bryce'a, gdzie zdarza się najgorszy moment w jej życiu. The Walls Came Down z repertuaru grupy The Call ukazuje Claya, oskarżającego Liberty High za samobójstwo Hannah.
Next four submissions which were recorded for the sake of 13 Reasons Why. Bored by Billie Eilish, a young american singer. This piece of music is a great introduction to Hannah's life. The music group Sir Sly recorded High. It is played in a moment when Clay is going to the party. The Killing Moon is a song which escorts Hannah when she's coming to the Bryce's possesion, where he used her in the worst possible way. It was the most regrettable moment of her life. The Walls Came Down by The Call, which shows Clay accusing Liberty High for killing young lady.
The Night We Met / A 1000 Times
Można śmiało powiedzieć, że są to najbardziej charakterystyczne utwory w życiu panny Baker. Przy każdej z nich Hannah czuła się szczęśliwa i kochana. The Night We Met, czyli studniówkowa propozycja Tony'ego, do której główna bohaterka i Clay razem tańczyli oraz A 1000 Times, przy którym Jensen nareszcie odważył się pocałować dziewczynę.
Let's admit that these two was the most characteristic for Hannah's life. Miss Baker with every single one of them had the best time of her life, she felt happy and loved. Tony played his special song - The Night We Met at the prom and Clay and Hannah danced to it. Also - Jensen finally kissed the girl with the sound of A 1000 Times.

Trzy świetne piosenki. Klimat serialu jest utrzymany w stylu lat 90., co możecie zobaczyć chociażby przez tytułowe taśmy lub samochód Tony'ego. Love Will Tear Us Apart również doskonale wpasowuje się w tę stylizację. Co do Into The Black to początkowo byłem sceptycznie nastawiony, ale po zobaczeniu odcinka z tym utworem w tle od razu się "naprawiłem". I jesteśmy przy Cool Blue, świetnym utworze, rodem z lat 70. ze spokojnym tonem. Bardzo dobre propozycje wszystkich grup - Joy Division, Chromatics oraz The Japanese House.
Amazing trio. Serial's atmosphere is kept in the ghost of 90's, which you can see by titular tapes or Tony's car. Love Will Tear Us Apart is a good example as well. As for Into The Black I needed to watch the episode with it, because, at first I wasn't truly convinced. Only by hearing it with those happenings I was able to redeem my mistake. And we're at the Cool Blue, an amazing one with the 70's easy and calm vibe. Some outstanding offers by Joy Division, Chromatics and The Japanese House.

Wybrałem te dwie piosenki na sam koniec, ponieważ mam wrażenie, że nie za bardzo tutaj pasują. Smutne historie, które skłoniły Hannah do samobójstwa początkowo współgrały z przygnębiającą, spokojną muzyką. Te rockowe piosenki są za szybkie, za dużo się w nich dzieje. Tytułowa bohaterka nie była rebeliantką, nie prowadziła buntowniczego życia. Dlatego uważam, że dwa ostatnie tytuły nie powinny się tutaj znaleźć. Są to dobre piosenki, wykonywane przez kultowe już grupy - The Cure oraz The Alarm, ale nie powinny być na soundtracku do serialu o takiej tematyce.
I chose these two for the end, because I have a feeling that they don't belong here. Sad stories which led Hannah to her suicide at first were mixed with gloomy and soulful songs. These rock ones is too fast, to much for such a tragic history. The protagonist wasn't seditious, she didn't run a rebel life. This is why, I would say that two last titles shouldn't appear here. They're good, made by iconic music groups - The Cure and The Alarm, but they just strictly don't match to the others and to the whole issue of the story.

Pokazuje nie tylko życie Hannah, ale też każdego, kto był z nią związany. Reżyser, Jay Asher, który również napisał ten bestseller, zrobił genialną robotę. Serial odsłania wszystkie negatywne i rzeczywiste rzeczy, które dzieją się w szkolnym życiu. Rozwinięte historie bohaterów, którzy są współwinni samobójstwa Hannah, pozwalają wgłębić się w przyczyny ich zachowania. Uważam, że wszyscy powinni zobaczyć 13 Powodów!
The soundtrack is brilliant, introductory to the atmosphere and the tragedy, which happened to the young Hannah. This is the best and the most substantial serial I've ever seen. Not only does it show Hannah's life, but also lives of people who connived at a crime. The director, Jay Asher, who also wrote the bestseller, made an outstanding job. This series disclose all of the negative and virtual things which happen in school life. Unrolled stories of the characters, which are partners in crime let us sink in the cause of their attitude and appearance. To my mind, everybody should watch 13 Reasons Why!
